Box 229 Boulder, Co. 80306 RE: Preliminary Adequacy Review - Bourg Strip File NC-021-81 Dear Mr. Simmons: t The purpose of this letter is to convey certain preliminary concerns which have been identified in the Mined Land Reclamation review of the appli- cation referenced above. This report constitutes the GO day notification of preliminary findings as to the substantive adequacy of your application, pursuant to CRS 1973, 34-33-118(5). I would Like to stress the preliminary nature of this report, as the review has not been completed by MLRD. Addi- tional comments will be forthcoming as our review progresses on the issues raised in this letter and on others. All maps, plans and cross-sections in the application must be verified as to their accuracy. A11 maps, plans and cross-sections that come under Rule 2.20 directly, or by reference, shall be prepared by or under the direction of and certified by, a qualified registered professional engineer or a professional geologist, with the assistance of experts in the appro- priate field. All maps, plans and cross-sections requiring certification must bear an original signature. However, in order to avoid unnecessary work, only the final master copy on file with the Division must bear an original signature. The other copies may bear a reproduction of the pro- fessional seat. An example of an acceptable method for handling map veri- fication would be to place the following statement on each original map, plan ar cross-section: "I certify this map is correct to the best of my knowledge, as was prepared by (name ) who is a qualified professional Soil Scientist" (or other appropriate professional title) This statement can then be properly signed and stamped by the appro- priate registered professional engineer or the professional geologist.
