The site is located on what appears to be the first alluvial terrace above the present flood plain of the North Fork, on the north side of the railroad tracks. An orchard is located immediately to the north of the disturbance, and it appears that a small portion of the orchard has been taken out of production by the construction. E Estimated total disturbance is approximately 15-20 acres, including a constructed cut/fill bench of approximately 10-15 acres. A small sediment pond was constructed near the eastern edge of the bench. No diversion ditches have been constructed and there appeared to be no sediment control below the outslope of the bench. Topsoil has been salvaged, but it appears to be a relatively small amount yiven the size of the disturbance and the depth of the topsoil adjacent to the cut. If the premine land use was irrigated orchard (as it appears) a finding of reclamation feasibility would be dependent on the adequacy of the topsoil salvage. If open CGaI storage is to be permitted on the bench, a large ber,n should be constructed around the perimeter of the pad area to prevent spillage of coal over the outslope and the outslopes should be seeded with perennial grasses to control erosion. Final surface grading should insure that runoff from the surface of the bench is directed to the sediment pond, and does not flow over the bench 423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver.
