III IIIIIIIIIIIII III • •
July 26, 1997
Mr. Kent Gorham RECEIVED
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology JUL 2 9 1887
1313 Sherman, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203 Biyie~on ct iMinaraio a ~ealeg~
Subject: Lorencito Canyon Mine (Permit No. C-96-084)
Response to Permit Application Adequacy Letter No. 2, dated July 22, 1997
Dear Mr. Gorham:
Lorencito Coal Company (LCC) appreciates the work which has gone into the reviews by you and
your staff: We would like to supplement permit application materials previously provided and
respond to comments made in the most recent adequacy letter.
19. LCC has provided a thorough listing of ownership and control information. The information
provided in Exhibit 1 details Bruce Addington's ownership and control history from
December 31, 1991 through December 31, 1996. There aze no additional surface coal
mining operations with which Mr. Addington was related other than those provided in
question 19a through 19ii.
21. Cultural resource protection will be consistent with the approved treatment plans found in
Exhibit 5. Fencing will be installed at sites SLA7181 and SLA7208 to preclude operational
disturbance. Treatment will occur at site SLA7186.
53. The underburden gradient has been modified on page 2.04-19.
65. Figure 1 of Exhibit 13 will be revised to be consistent with the extent of surface mine
disturbance line shown in the 7/25/97 version of Map 2.05.4-1, Surface Mine Post-Mine
Topography. Recent modifications were made to overlay the O-seams on the map (Question
66), with coincident revisions to ensure that disturbance did not extend below that line except
in azeas of fills and spoil transportation zones (STZs). LCC confirms that this surface mine
disturbance line reflects the disturbance proposed for this permit term.
5990 Greenwood Plaza Blvd. Suite 250 Englewood, CO 80111
(303)850-0930 Fax (303)721-9298
