Enclosed is the preliminary adequacy review of the Coal Ridge No. 1 permit
application.
This letter contains very few comments concerning hydrology and geology. Most
of the initial hydrologic and geologic concerns were covered in a letter to
you dated April 6, 1984. The following is a summary of geologic and
hydrologic issues to date:
The Storm King Mines has adequate information to make findings under the
following Rule citations:
Rule 4.05.10 - Underground Mine entry and Access Drainage;
Rule 4.05.4 -Transfer of Wells;
Rule 4.05.18 - Stream Buffer Zones; and
Rule 4.07 - Sealing of Drill Holes and Underground Openings.
Additional baseline surface and ground water data is needed to complete the
year's baseline requirements under the following Rules:
Rule 2.04.5 - General Description of Hydrology and Geology;
Rules 2.05.7(1) and (2) - Hydrologic Description; and
Rule 4.24 - Operations on Alluvial Valley Floors.
Additional geologic baseline is needed for the surface facilities to
adequately satisfy requirements under:
Rule 2.04.6 - Geology Description; and
Rule 4.24 - Operations on Alluvial Valley Floors.
