This letter is in response to your letter of June 4, 1984. Storm
King Mines has amended portions of the application to respond to
the questions you raised. This letter will comment on those
questions which Storm King twiines feels need only an explanation
to support the permit application.
Question
Legal 5 Storm King Mines has submitted copies of the coal
leases covering the permit area. These are confiden-
tial and not to be placed in the open file.
Legal 6 The right to mine coal and the use of the surface
for said activity is covered in the leases mentioned
in the previous question.
Legal 7 As discussed in previous meetings, Storm King Diines
has supplied information for proposed activities on
certain lands Storm King Diines has yet to control.
Our operations are phased and certain areas are not
required until the completion of pilot mining. In
our meeting and Storm King Mine's letter of January
13, 1984, and in your letter of reply dated January
18, 1984, it was understood these written waivers
would not be provided until operations were about
to begin during subsequent phases of development.
The MLRD permit would stipulate that operations would
not be permitted in affected areas, namely a portion
of the railroad corridor, the haulroad corridor and
the BLM lands.
Storm King Nines' Coal Ridge #1 r:ine is an underground
coal mine with surface facilities in conjunction there-
with.
