No response required from SCC; however, SCC will consider
° submitting a minor revision at a later date for replacing
thinner topsoil on shrub islands.
Tab 7
17. SCC agrees with the CDMG that some cement may exist in the
~~ screened zone of the referenced monitor wells. However, the
presence of seasonal and annual water level fluctuations
indicate the screened zones are not entirely plugged.
Therefore, water level information appears to not have been
seriously biased.
•
i
Of the referenced wells, aquifer tests were performed only on
Wells YOV1, YSAL1, YSAL4, YSAL5, and YSAL12. A partially
clogged screened zone would tend to bias aquifer test
transmissivity (T) values low; however, T values at these
wells are among the highest observed. The aquifer test data
for Well YOV1 is already suspect due to a faulty bottom seal
(see Table 7-9) and is not used for impact determination.
Since SCC already concludes that the alluvium is not precluded
from use due to potential well yields, higher T values for
these wells would not change any of SCC's predictions of
impacts. Aquifer test data for these wells has not been used
in any calculations to determine impacts either in Tab 7
(Hydrologic Description) or Tab 17 (Probable Hydrologic
Consequences).
Saturated thicknesses are determined by subtracting water
level data from the total depth of a well. This is predicated
on the assumption that the well completely penetrates the
aquifer (in this case, the Sage Creek alluvium). Review of
Table 7-4 indicates a total well depth for Wells YSAL8 and 9
of 20 feet. However, total depths for the three other
adjacent wells in this nest (YSAL6 = 40 feet, YSAL7 = 45 feet,
and YSAL10 = 53 feet) indicate that Wells YSALS and 9 have
been underdrilled. As a result, saturated thickness for these
two wells are less than the adjacent wells. SCC has modified
