Shuey
Subject: Craig Gravel, 112 Permit No. M 76-027
Inspection Report
Mr. Shuey:
In response to your Inspection Report of O1 August 2000 for our Craig Gravel Source Permit
No. M 76-027 we wish to make the following statements.
Reoon Item 1. in replacing the west boundary markers Mr. Olson found the marker
signs (mounted on delineator posts) lying on the ground at the northwest and northeast
corners of the reclaimed former stockpile/process area. Since the S/P azea has been
reclaimed the landowner has been conducting agricultural operations thereon, that use of
which is pan of the Reclamation Plan. Apparently he had removed the posts with the signs
mounted on them to get them out of the way of his grass drilling and stone removal
operations. We have temporarily replaced the marker posdsigns, until the area can be
terminated from the permit area. We shall be mailing you some photos of the marked
boundary.
i CDUi~ lt:;ni ~ As l~iiii Illl)at alining Upefail UllJ, Life Uepil] u1 UJflU1C rC30UfCt Can
only be estimated, particularly in deep deposits like the Craig source, where exploratory
equipment cannot reach the bottom. As you know the bottom elevation of natural deposits
tend to vary widely depending upon the depositional environment at that time. The mining
plan had no intention of designating an absolute bottom elevation, but did intend to utilize all
of the valuable resource. Obviously the reclamation cost analysis is in need of revision,
based upon what is now known of the apparent depths of the gravel deposit. We are
preparing a technical revision to address those changes. That T-R will also address the steep
& deep high-wall mining technique used at the north boundazy of the permit area, and shall
re-define the permit area boundaries, based upon recent accurate land surveys of those
boundaries. Original permit boundaries were based upon aerial photographs, and
assumptions concerning placement of existing fences. At that time areas of completed
Nielsons. Inc. 22419 County Rd.
