McArdle ~r~ <br />NOTE - This report includes a partial site inspection. <br />MORRISON QUARRY <br />MINE LOCATION: 1.5 miles south of Morrison in Jefferson County. <br />COUNTY: Jefferson <br />N0. OF ACRES: <br />RECLAMATION ASSESSMENT: <br />1. Grading: Satisfactory <br />2. Topsoil: Benches were backfilled with sufficient growth <br />medium. <br />3. Stabilization: Quarry walls have been left in a safe stable <br />condition. Erosion is not a problem on the <br />benches proper, however, the haul road leading to <br />the first bench has had erosion problems with loss <br />of growth medium. <br />4. Revegetation: Extremely successful on the backfilled benches. <br />5. Success-Treated Areas: Pinyon Pine, Ponderosa Pine, Rabbitbrush, Mountain <br />Mahogany, Wheatgrass, Quailbush sumac, are among <br />species doing well. <br />6. Failure-Treated Areas: The area cross-hatched and noted on the attached <br />map taken from your letter of July 18, 1984 is not <br />ready for release due to erosion. <br />7. Other Areas <br />Requiring Treatment: Cross-hatched area on map requires additional <br />growth medium (12 to 18 inches) and the placement <br />of water bars. <br />8.
