Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program
CLOSEOUT REPORT
ENTERPRISE MINE BOND FORFEITURE PROJECT
PKA-9-608
Permit Information
Permit Number: Operator Name: Mine Name:
M-1983-068 Maurine M. Carpenter Enterprise Mine
Type of Mine: 110 U/G Commodity Mined: Au, Ag
PRE-RECLAMATION SITE CONDITIONS:
The Enterprise Mine Bond Forfeiture Project is located in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area of the Gunnison National
Forest, near Taylor Park, Gunnison County Colorado. The Enterprise Mine was an underground gold and silver mining
operation that was operated both as a historic mine, beginning in 1899, and more recently as a mine permitted by the State
of Colorado. The Enterprise Mine is situated between the elevations of 11,700' aria 12,700' and consists of three(3)mine
entry areas, a large waste pile located at the lower entry, and approximately three (3) miles of access road leading to the
mine.
The Purpose of this project was to reclaim as much of the man-made site disturbance as possible given the project funding
limitations. Reclamation work will be geared toward minimizing site erosion and resultant sedimentation caused by the
construction of mining related facilities.
The Project work consisted of safeguarding two(2) open mine entries, removal of an abandoned aluminum travel trailer and
other metallic debris from a historic site, construction of a French drain and backfilling and grading of a large open cut at the
lower entry, the reclamation of the three (3) miles of mine access roads, and revegetation of approximately seven (7) acres
of disturbed land.
BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION:
Type of Bid ( ) Documented Quote
(X) Formal - Bid as the: Enterprise Mine Bond Forfeiture Project, PKA-9-608
PO Number: Contractor Name &Address: Construction Dates: Bond Amount:
OE-PKA-09000000073 $ 3,800.00
J3 Environmental Company Start: 9/9/2009
on o P.O. J3 Environmental Company
was awarded the project on May 13, 2009 and construction began on September 9 with equipment and materials being
mobilized to the project site. Construction of the French drain at the lower entry began on the morning of September 11 and
was completed by the evening on the 13`h. This operation took longer than expected as there was limited riprap material at
the lower entry and material had to be hauled down from the upper areas.
The upper entry was also backfilled over the weekend and was ready for inspection on Monday, September 14. The middle
entry was backfilled on the 15th while a DRMS Project Manager was on site.
Asof051409
