(GSB) is in receipt of your inspection report dated June 18, 2020.
The report cited the following problem:
"The operator shall provide a dust suppression plan for this site as a Technical Revision
to the permit by the corrective action date July 20, 2020. The plan should detail measures
to be taken by the permittee for specific areas within the permit, and apply to both periods
of inactivity(such as currently), and to periods of active mining at the site. This plan should
be implemented immediately upon approval by the Division. "
Corrective Action:
General Shale is submitting a technical revision to the permit for a dust abatement plan
for periods of mining activity and inactivity.
GSB is providing Technical Revision (TR) for the following:
1. Notice of backfill of inert structural fill for scrap brick called grog.
2. Dust abatement plan
3. Allowance of scrap brick for stabilization of overburden-interburden stockpiles
Notice of backfill of inert structural fill
Placement of the scrap brick, called grog, will assist in site reclamation by providing additional
fill material as replacement for mined materials.
The inert fill material will consist of grog generated from the GSB's Denver brick plant. We
anticipate placing 20,000 tons of grog into the pit. An affidavit is attached certifying that the
grog is inert and"clean".
We plan on hauling the grog to the mine and placing it on the clay stockpile pad areas as a
possible dust suppressant if liquid dust suppressants are not cost-effective solution. When the
grog breaks down and becomes dusty the grog will be picked up and hauled to the south end of
General Shale, 1845 West Dartmouth Avenue,Denver Colorado 80110 Page 1 of 5
T: 1-800-477-9002 1 F: 1-303-781-1818 1 www.generalshale.com
