The Nissen Gravel Mine was slurry
lined in 2004 and an approved leak test was performed in 2008. As a result of the passing leak
test the bond was reduced for the slurry wall.
During the flood event of late summer 2013 a small portion of the wall was washed out due to flood
waters in and around the South Platte. There was minimal damage to the consolidation cap and
below grade slurry wall section. The repair section was excavated and built back with bentonite
clayey soils compacted in-place. The wall continues to perform within the Colorado State Lined
Reservoir Criteria as discussed in the attached March 12, 2015 letter and is still being used as an
insitu water storage vessel by Central Colorado Water Conservancy District.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions at 303.833.1416 x 202.
Sincerely,
CIVIL RESOURCES, LLC
i
Andy Rodriguez, P.E.
Project Manager
cc: Mark Johnson, Bestway Concrete and Aggregate Inc.
JABestway-21kissenlNissen Slurrywall.doc
323 FIFTH STREET• P.O.
