The Ironclad Power Reroute Project will include the
addition of 30 power poles and associated powerline with a subsequent removal of 10 power poles and
associated powerline.
Back rg o
Mining the upper benches of the Globe Hill Pit in 2017 will involve benches that will cut through an area
with an existing powerline that provides electricity to the Ironclad facilities. This powerline is a
"regulated" line owned by Black Hills Energy and is fed from the Cripple Creek substation. This 3 phase,
13.2 kV powerline terminates at CC&V's Ironclad facilities; therefore the only customer affected by this
change is CC&V.
Plan
The proposed powerline will tie into an existing 3 phase, 13.2kV circuit that originates from the Arequa
Gulch substation. This part of the line is an "unregulated" double circuit that is owned by Newmont and
feeds the Mill, Crusher, ADR2 and other power needs internal to the mine site. The proposed power line
tied into the circuit above the Mill will use 30 power poles and 6,914 feet of powerline to re -feed into the
south side of the Ironclad facility (Figure 1). The proposed powerline will stay entirely on site and
