A check in the amount of $216 is
also enclosed for the required technical revision fee.
General Compliance with Mine Plan
As noted in the Division's inspection report, phases of mining of the Longmont Operation are progressing
in different sequence than what is set forth in the currently approved mine plan.
Mining commenced in the northwest area of the originally approved Phase Two Mining area and is
progressing generally to the south and east. Based on this progression of mining and a re-evaluation of
sand and gravel reserves on the site, Al recently developed a revised phasing plan. The revised plan is
addressed in the enclosed Longmont -Tull Property Reserve Block Map. Mining will progress from
previously disturbed areas in a counter clockwise manner through the series of Blocks A through F as
shown on the map.
Al does not currently anticipate locating processing, concrete or asphalt plants on this site. Should any of
these facilities be located on the site in the future, they would likely be placed on the floor of a previously
excavated area of the mine. Any of these temporary facilities would be removed prior to a request for
release from reclamation responsibility.
The site is being backfilled as mining progresses, with fill generally being placed from west to east
starting along the west boundary of the site to provide additional setback from Boulder Creek. Backfill is
being placed in a manner that will facilitate formation of an irregular shoreline for wildlife habitat as set
forth in the currently approved reclamation plan.
In addition to overburden and topsoil generated from excavation of the site, Al is importing structural fill
generated outside of the permit area. Imported material is temporarily stockpiled in excavated areas of
Aggregate Industries
West Central Region, Inc.
1687 Cote Boulevard, Suite 300
Golden, CO 80401
Telephone: 303-985-1070
An Equal Opportunity Employer
