Three creeks, Magpie Creek, Newlin Creek,
and Second Alkali Creek, are monitored at the reclaimed mine site. Technical Revision 36
discontinued the monitoring of Oak Creek at the reclaimed coal loadout. Listed in the
monitoring plan, the surface monitoring samples are to be taken semi - annually if there is flow.
All required sites were visited in the following months:
• June and December of 2011
• April and November of 2012
• May and December of 2013.
During the years of 2011 and 2012 there was no recorded flow in the creeks, and no samples
were taken. During the year of 2013 precipitation events did result in water in Newlin Creek, but
not enough to produce a steady flow to the monitoring point NC -1; therefore, no samples were
taken in the creeks in 2013.
/ °F CO`O
o
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http: / /mining.state.co.us
John W.
