Drilling Activity
Natural Soda, Inc. (NSI) is submitting this technical revision to allow for the addition of
production, monitoring, and water supply wells to benefit NSI's sodium bicarbonate solution
mining operations. This submission contains information and documents necessary to
process a Technical Revision (TR) to NSI's mining permit.
Documentation is included in this TR submittal for the planned construction of three
production well pairs, two water supply wells, and 23 core /monitor wells. Information relating
to new pad and new road construction is also included. All operations described in this TR
will occur in Township 1 South, Range 98 West as referenced to the 6th Principal Meridian.
The production well pairs will be located in the northwest portion of Section 35 and the
southwest portion of Section 25 on well pads designated 8H, 91-1, and 14H. The wells will
extend down into the Boies Bed (approximately 2,000 feet below ground surface). The 8H
and 9H well pads will be located on the existing 3A -4H and 1 A -5HR well pads. Only minimal
pad modification or new acreage disturbance is anticipated for the 8H or 9H well pads. The
14H well pair will be located on a newly constructed well pad. Access roads for the
production wells will be on existing roads or, in the case of the 14H pad, will be newly
constructed and minimal in length.
The two proposed water supply wells WSW -3 and WSW -4 will be located on newly
constructed pads in the northwest portions of Section 26 and 25, respectively. These water
supply wells will each be drilled to an approximate depth of 1,425 feet below ground surface.
Existing disturbances will be utilized whenever possible.
NSI proposes to begin a Resource Development Program (RDP) in 2014. The 23 exploratory
core /monitor wells of the RDP will be located in Sections 15, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, and 35.
Existing disturbances will be utilized where practical. As this exploratory program moves
forward, the planned pad construction and drilling activities will be dependent on the
stratigraphic results and knowledge gained from the previously drilled exploratory wells. It is
therefore anticipated that not all of the proposed wells or well locations will be constructed.
Additionally, many of the exploratory core wells will be plugged and abandoned upon reaching
the well's total depth (TD) with site reclamation to follow.
SPECIALIZING IN PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, HYDROLOGICAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND PERMITTING SERVICES
