Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Division has reviewed the response provided by JE Stover and Associates on behalf of
Bowie Resources, LLC (BRL) to our second round of adequacy questions with TR -77 for the
Bowie No. 2 Mine. The revision originally proposed the use of overburden materials as a
substitute for topsoil in the Gob Pile #2 area; BRL has since revised the proposal to remove this
request. The proposal now focuses on topsoil and subsoil handling and the material balance on
Gob Pile #2. We have the following comments and questions regarding the application.
1. BRL has removed the request to revise page 2.04 -101, so this item is no longer relevant and
therefore resolved.
2. BRL has removed the request to revise page 2.04 -101, so this item is no longer relevant and
therefore resolved.
3. BRL has removed the request to revise page 2.04 -101, so this item is no longer relevant and
therefore resolved.
4. BRL has removed the request to revise page 2.05 -50, so this item is no longer relevant and
therefore resolved.
5. a. BRL has removed the request to substitute coverfill for topsoil, so this item is no longer
relevant and therefore resolved.
b. BRL, with revised Map 32 and Appendix A of Volume IX, has provided locations and
volumes of material stockpiles, as requested by the Division.
i. Appendix A indicates that there is a total of 263,719 cy of cover material available for
reclamation of the gob piles. Included in that figure is the material that has been
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
