Box 571 <br />Nucla, Colorado 81424 <br />4.0 Blast Design <br />Rule 4.08.4(7), Rule 4.08.4(10), Rule 4.08.6(2) <br />WFC will apply its blasting experience from the New Horizon 2 (NH2) Mine to the NHN Mine. At <br />the NH2 Mine, WFC monitors nearly each "close -to- residence" overburden blast and modifies <br />the blast designs as needed to achieve the desired fragmentation of material and stay in DRMS <br />blast compliance standards (shown in Table 2.05.3(6)(a) -1). Burden and spacing distances, <br />borehole diameter, and different delay sequences have all been part of the efforts to protect <br />neighbors from the effects of blasting at NH2. <br />The blast design program at NH2 and NHN takes into account: <br />1. the modified Scaled Distance (DS) generated from site specific data <br />2. the distance to the nearest dwelling /structure <br />3. the number of blast holes in the pattern <br />4. the number of holes detonating within any 8 ms period <br />5. the desired degree of breakage. <br />SECTION 2.05.3(6)(a) PAGE - 4 - JULY 2013 <br />%R -02 <br />'wVrd <br />/7-JUI.2..0/.3 <br />
