Map 12, Mine Area Surface and Groundwater Hydrology map has been revised to show the correct
location of Well No. 119459 as listed with the CDWR State Engineer's Office. [Revised Map 12 was
submitted with the April 3, 2013 transmittal of MR -601.
4: Table 11 is revised to reflect the correct location of the Conte Well (Township 70W, Range 68W) as
listed in the CDWR State Engineer's Office permit. (See Item 5 below concerning water rights).
5: Table 11 has been updated to reflect change in ownership and the revised table is included with
this transmittal.
6: Technical Revision No.35 (TR -35) Page 4.05 -26, refers to the Water Year as June through May and
the annual report being submitted to the CMLRD [DRMS] on or before August 1 of each year. The water
monitoring practice at Southfield has tracked the calendar year since the early 1990's. EFCI is informed
that one of the AHR's in the early 1990's was extended to include 15 months for the transition of the
water year to track the calendar year. EFCI prefers to continue the same schedule so as to have like
seasonal conditions as the previous years for ongoing monitoring comparisons.
7. (Roads): Section 4.03 has been revised to reflect the current status of roads. Page 4.03 -2 has been
revised to clarify the conversion of haul roads to access roads and refers to Page 4.03 -8 (MR -55) which
clarifies the approved permanence of the access roads. The Table of Contents has been revised (Figure
No. 23) to clarify road designation, i.e., haul road vs. access road.
8. Map 14 (Mine Area Soil) and Map 15 (Loadout Area Soils) have been updated to depict the
remaining topsoil stockpiles at their respective locations or subsequent removal for reclamation.
9. EFCI is reviewing potentials of surveying with the landowner, The Corley Company, to address
these and other issues. Agreements to the matter are yet to be reached.
10. Map 12, Mine Area Surface and Groundwater Hydrology has been revised to depict the Corley
Company Well (No. 119459) as located in the NE4, SE4, Sect 24, Range 70W, Township 20S as it is
listed in the CDWR permit.
EFCI's former mine engineer, Allen Weaver met the Corley Company's ranch manager, Mr. Ray
Kirby at the well site (Well No. 119459) to investigate the status of the well during 1992. Weaver and
Kirby probed the well at that time and determined that the well was dry. The issue about the well was
dropped at that time and was not brought up again until recently, some 20 years later.
Subsequent to the April 3, 2013 transmittal, information has become available from an in
depth Hydrologic Review of Southfield generated by Mr. Mike Boulay, hydrologist for the DRMS.
Mr. Boulay states that drawdown effects to the Corley Company well would not be expected to be
present [pertaining to mining activities beneath the well]. DWR well records indicate the well
produced approximately I gallon per minute. Mr. Boulay's comments concerning the Corley
Company well can be reviewed under the subject of "Adjudicated Wells Within the Permit and
Adjacent Areas" on Page 9 of Mr. Boulay's review which is on file with the DRMS.
