PERMIT #: M -1977 -342
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: PSH
INSPECTION DATE: June 20, 2013
southwest pit slopes have been regraded to approximately a 3H:1V slope.
Two areas of exposed groundwater were present in the pit, along the north end of the pit and along the
eastside of the pit in the northeast corner of the excavation. According to the letter dated September 30,
2011 from W. W. Wheeler and Associates, Inc., approximately 2.64 acres of groundwater were exposed prior
to December 31, 1980. As indicated in the letter dated November 8, 2011 from the Division of Water
Resources a well permit and augmentation plan are not required if there is to be no further use of the
groundwater and the pre -law amount of exposed groundwater is not exceeded.
NMGW -1:
Henderson notified the Division on June 4, 2013 of an NPL exceedance for pH at groundwater point of
compliance (POC) well MNGW -1 downgradient of the Henderson Mine. During the inspection, Henderson
confirmed the required second test result also exceeded the NPL. Henderson stated the required additional
data evaluation, data distribution and trend analysis will be performed and a report will be sent to the
Division.
Henderson expects to submit two technical revisions this year to revise the reclamation seed mixture and the
Tailings Delivery Line (TDL). The revised seed mixture will include more native species. The TDL revision will
include the removal of Drop Tower 17 and the replacement of the current reinforced concrete pipe with HTPE
pipe.
Photographs taken during the inspection are attached.
Inspection Contact Address
Mr. Miguel Hamarat
Climax Molybdenum Company
19302 County Rd. #3
Parshall, CO 80468
Cc: Tom Kaldenbach, DRMS
