A contractor will be used to haul the ore from the surface ore stockpile area to the
mill. The ore haulage contractor will be responsible for a spill control plan.
c. Soil Excavation and Stockpile Areas
Top soil will be borrowed from the toe of the hill located northwest of the mine
waste dump and spread over the waste and ore stockpiles at a thickness of 1 to 2
inches. This site has already been successfully reclaimed previously using topsoil
spread to a thickness of less than 2 inches in places; it can be expected that the
same method will work again.
d. Surface Drainage Control Structures
Berms and ditches will be constructed around portions of the site perimeter of the
waste rock, ore and soil stockpiles to divert onsite runon away from these piles.
Runoff from these piles will be contained onsite.
For a detailed description of all stormwater diversion structures and maps, see
Appendix H - Drainage Design Plan.
e. Fuel and Oil Storage Areas
A 500 - gallon fuel storage tank will be brought onsite once mining resumes. A
lined secondary containment adequate to contain 120% of the tanks contents will
be constructed beneath the tank.
No large quantities of oil will be stored onsite. When mining activity resumes, it
may be necessary to store small quantities (5- gallon buckets) of antifreeze, motor
oil, gear oil, hydraulic oil, rock drill oil, etc. This will be stored in the compressor
shed. Used oil will be hauled off site and properly disposed.
f. Shop & Dry and Maintenance Shops
Surface facilities include an office building and a water tank.
g. Roads and Associated Pads
Additional roads may be built to access the ventilation shaft as well as the mine
yard. These roads will only need to be constructed 200 -300 feet long as
preexisting drill roads will be used as much as possible. Additional acreage for
these roads is already accounted for in this permit.
C -5
