the reference area at the following rates annually:
Nitrogen: 60 Ibs /acre
Phosphorus: 20 Ibs /acre
These rates are those recommended by the local NRCS office in Norwood, CO.
4.6.2 Grazing Plan
Grazing of the Reclaimed Irrigated Pastureland will not be considered during the first growing
season in orderto reduce trampling and pulling of the plants by livestock. If significant growth needs
to be removed during the first season, mechanical harvesting will be used. Grazing will only be
applied to the Reclaimed Irrigated Pastureland areas after the first growing season. Following the
first season, either grazing or mechanical harvesting will be used as part of the management of the
Reclaimed Irrigated Pastureland areas. Harvested hay will be removed from the fields as rapidly
as hay quality and weather conditions permit.
Grazing management will be coordinated with the owner of the herd that is contracted to graze the
reclaimed and /or reference areas. Length of the grazing period and intensity of the grazing activity
(number of animals over a given area) will be determined based on previous successful grazing
practices on irrigated pastureland areas on the New Horizon property.
During years in which sampling is conducted for release application, grazing will be deferred until
after the sampling is completed on both reclaimed and reference IP areas.
Grazing and /or haying practices applied to the reclaimed and /or reference area will be similar.
Haying and /or grazing may be applied to the reclaimed and /or reference area.
As shown in the October 17, 2007 NRCS letter in Attachment 2.05.4(2)(e) -11, interseeding is
allowed in Reclaimed Irrigated Pastureland as a normal husbandry practice. This may be utilized
during the first six years of the liability period. Interseeding will be conducted by use of a drill seeder
capcable of seeding into an unprepared seedbed or by use of a broadcast seeder in conjunction
with use of a spring tooth harrow or similar locally available equipment, to provide for
(June 2013 MR 86) 2.05.4(2)(e) - 38
M R -8(a
Approved
;-10 Jon ,L d ►3
