i) Since the pit will be used on an intermittent basis, it is difficult to
estimate the time it will take to mine all six areas. We are estimating that
it will take ten years to mine the expanded pit. This pit should be
classified as an Intermittent Use Pit.
ii) Area one is the current pit, which is 9.18 acres and is located on the
southern portion of the pit. Area 2 lies west of Area 1 and is approx. 5.4
acres. Area 3 will be approx. 10 acres and lies to the north of the current
open pit.
iii) Area one will be mined first followed by area 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
f) The pit will be accessed from Co. Rd. 10. There will be temporary haul roads
inside the pit area, but they will be removed as reclamation occurs.
g) There will be no shop, plant, or other facilities permanently located at the
mine site. Equipment will be maintained at the site when mining is occurring.
This will be on a periodic basis since material will only be mined on an as
needed basis. The equipment used to mine the gravel will be primarily a
front -end loader and trucks. A portable fuel tank will be taken to the site
when active mining is occurring. The tank will be placed out of any drainage
area and out of the active working area to prevent fuel spills or related
hazards. This and good housekeeping will minimize the potential of any
contamination. The final mine floor will be at least 120' above static water
level and should pose no threat to ground water. Equipment will be serviced
out of the mining area.
h) No water will be used in conjunction with the operation. There could be
instances when heavy rainfall makes the site too muddy to continue. At those
times, mining will simply cease until the site becomes dry enough to mine
again. Mining will not go into the groundwater at the site.
i) The material to be mined will be used for road construction.
i) Our plans are to mine to a depth of 60' if the material continues to be
suitable.
ii) Based up mining that has occurred to date, the material at the bottom of the
pit would be expected to remain consistent throughout the life of the pit.
j) The material to be removed from this pit includes gravel and overburden that
might be marketable.
k) A twenty -five foot buffer will be left on the north, west, and east property
boundaries and ten feet along the south property line. The buffer will be used
