EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan
a) Mining will utilize the following operations:
i) Use of front -end loader to remove and stockpile existing top soil
ii) Utilize front -end loader to remove and stockpile overburden
iii) Utilize front -end loader to push up gravel
iv) Utilize a front -end loader to load material onto trucks.
b) The site will be mined up to a depth of 60 feet, depending on availability of
material. Mining will be done on an approximate 3:1 slope down to the
bottom of the pit area. Topsoil ranges from 0" to 4" in depth. The topsoil will
be stripped, stockpiled, and utilized when the pit is reclaimed. There is
overburden to remove. If that material is usable, it will be mined and taken
off the site. If the material is not marketable, it will be stockpiled and used in
the reclamation process.
c) There are no anticipated water diversions or impoundments. There is no
surface water at the site. When rainfall occurs, the pit area may be
unworkable for a few days. Since the use of the pit is intermittent, we will be
able to work around those occurrences.
d) Our intent is to work approximately 10 acres during each of the seven mining
phases, starting with the current open area in the south, moving west, moving
north, etc. around to the assigned tracts over approximately 10 years. We plan
to maintain a 25 -foot setback around the north, west, and east perimeters and a
10 -foot setback along the south perimeter of the pit for maintenance and
inspection. Thus, only 61 acres will actually be disturbed. The boundary line
and corners will be clearly staked with red painted steel posts
e) The mining plan is to begin to expand the current open are to the west. We
will remove any top soil and overburden by front -end loader and create
stockpiles. The top soil is about 04" deep on most of this soil. Stockpiles of
top soil and/or overburden will be seeded with crested wheat grass to
minimize blowing or erosion. The underlying material is calcareous and will
be utilized for construction on county roadbeds. When expanded area number
one is mined, the top soil will be spread out evenly and the 3:1 slope
maintained on the sidewalls. Area one will then be seeded according to the
reclamation plan. The next 5.4 acre area to be mined will be to the west of
area one. The third area will lie immediately north of area 1.
The material mined will be removed to a depth of 60 feet where available.
The material will then be loaded by a front -end loader and hauled by truck to
end users. No on -site processing is planned.
