the U.S. Bureau of Land Management - White River Field Office (BLM). <br />The Division sent a total of fifteen adequacy review comments to BME between May 7, 2013 <br />and June 20, 2013. BME submitted the final set of adequacy responses on June 21, 2013, which <br />adequately addressed all of the Division's review questions. <br />The Division conducted Applicant Violator System checks on April 17, 2013 and July 1, 2013 <br />and found that there were no violations reported for BME. <br />Notice of Violations <br />No violations were written from the period of the approval of Permit Renewal 05 until the <br />proposed approval of Permit Revision 08. <br />Description of the Environment <br />Location of Permit Area <br />The mine is located on Federal and private lands currently within Rio Blanco County, Colorado. <br />The legal description of the lands included within the permit area is: <br />Township 2 North, Range 101 West, 6th P.M.: <br />Portions of Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, and 12 <br />Township 3 North, Range 101 West, 6th P.M.: <br />All or portions of Sections 19 through 23, and 25 through 36 <br />With the final decision of Permit Revision 08, the mine will be located on Federal and private <br />lands within Rio Blanco County and Moffat County, Colorado. The legal description of the lands <br />included within the proposed permit area is: <br />Township 2 North, Range 101 West, 6th P.M.: <br />Portions of Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, and 12 <br />Township 3 North, Range 101 West, 6th P.M.: <br />All or portions of Sections 17 through 23, and 25 through 36 <br />Physiographic Setting <br />The elevation at the Deserado Mine site ranges between 5,300 ft. and 5,900 ft. The permit area <br />and adjacent areas are characterized by gently rolling to moderately steep landforms. Slopes <br />range from 0 to 6 percent in the valleys and level uplands and up to 50 percent on drainage side <br />slopes. <br />Geologic Setting <br />The bedrock at the ground surface in the Deserado permit area is contained within the Mesaverde <br />Group of Upper Cretaceous age.
