Attached please find Revision 1 of that memo. Below in red we prepared direct responses to Bob's
comments and references to what changes were made.
From: Oswald - DNR, Robert [ mailto :robert.oswald()state.co.usl
Sent: Thursday, May 30, 2013 11:09 AM
To: Andrea Reither
Cc: Frank Filas, P.E; Blair, James J
Subject: Re: Sunday Mine Complex Proposed Low Flow Groundwater Sampling
Hi Andrea - I've reviewed the packet you sent, and have the following comments /questions:
1. Cover letter, page one states that there are 5 monitoring wells proposed, though there are actually
6. Could you confirm that? This was a typographical error and has been fixed.
2. Table 1 shows that pump depth in MW -SUN3 is 562 ft. Mention is made in same table about
function of the proposed Blatypus pump at 500 ft. Could you explain if there's an issue with a pump
depth limit, or some other obstacle? Blatypus has a pump that can be placed up to 3,000 feet BGS. If
we decide to use the Blatypus system to sample MW -SUN3, we will discuss the placement depth with
the manufacture and use the deeper pump if necessary. A row has been added to Table 1 reflecting the
availability of this deeper placement pump.
3. Attachment A, monitoring well diagrams, one is clearly labeled for MW -SUN2, but the other seems
to be MW-SUN 1, but label doesn't contain that name. An MW -SUN I label has been added to the
appropriate well diagram in Appendix A.
4. To avoid confusion (maybe just mine) I'd suggest consistency in referencing each of the monitoring
wells, since there are various ways they are referred to in the packet (West Ambient Well is MW -SUN3;
West Intermediate Well is MW -SUN2; East Compliance Well is MW -SUN1, etc.). Unfortunately,
when this project began, we did not choose brief well names that could be plotted, easily on a map or
Sunday Mine Complex 1 Revision 0
V',INCColorado Sunday Complex Baseline Siudies'.G-undwateri Well Sampling Pla Drilling(WateMemolSwday PmpasedfowF lowSamplingResponseLetter.doc June 2013
