explosives magazine removal
substation removal
Hazardous waste container (55 gal drums) disposal
Reveszetation
Seeding is primarily accomplished using a rangeland drill. However, in some instances
broadcast seeding is used. There are different costs associated with the type of seedmix
used as specified in the Revegetation Plan (Tab 22).
The revegetation task includes cost for:
- drilling Seedmix #1
- drilling Seedmix #2
- drilling Seedmix #3
- broadcast Seedmix #1
- broadcast Seedmix #5
- shrub /tree seedling planting
- drilling cover crop
- drilling deadhead and light use roads
Miscellaneous Reclamation
This work includes annual rill and gully repair, road maintenance, and sediment pond
cleaning until Phase III bond release.
Mobilize/Demobilize Equipment
Mobilization and demobilization costs were based on mobilizing the major pieces of
equipment from the nearest large town, in this case Craig, Colorado.
Fleet Determination
Once the volumes for the various phases of reclamation were determined, the number of
shifts, hours per shift, equipment types, operator /operating efficiencies, support
equipment, and overall reclamation time span were determined. The following
discussion provides the considerations utilized in determining the equipment fleet needed.
Production Shifts. One shift per day was used for topsoiling and finish grading. Two
shifts per day was used for open pit backfilling. Shifts were based on an eight -hour
period per shift. A conservative operating efficiency of 83 percent was used to account
for decreased productivity due to operator efficiency for scrapers. Fifty min/hr was used
for dozers due to other factors, taking darkness into consideration.
Equipment Type. The types of equipment selected were based on similar type equipment
presently operating at the mine site or could prudently be brought in for a job of this
magnitude. Whenever possible, Caterpillar equipment was used for reclamation due to
TR -53 6 Revised 05/13
