EXHIBIT D- RECLAMATION PLAN
Reclamation of the disturbed areas will occur following completion of the operation and areas that
might be disturbed and no longer used will be reclaimed in a timely manner following end of use.
The life of the operation is indeterminate at this time. The area is currently zoned as A -1
(agricultural) with the Cripple Creek Mining Overlay District (CCMOD) located adjacent to the
south and east. It is also located near the Cripple Creek Historic District and is part of the view
from it. As a result, closure of the permit will consist of removal of evidence of current and past
mining and also preservation of part of the historic heritage. The neighboring tourist mine has
historically shared ventilation with portions of the property and the closure of the portal and air
raise will be taken into consideration when mining ceases.
The goals of reclamation of the permit area will be for historic preservation of existing historical
features and the removal and reclamation of new features created by the current operation. By
virtue of the site's setting, the area will have scenic attraction along with some limited use as
rangeland and wildlife habitat. This will be accomplished by securing and stabilizing the newly
disturbed areas and reclaiming them to their approximate original contours. Areas that have
historically been disturbed will be evaluated for historical significance, and stabilized as
appropriate, including seeding with appropriate grass seed mixtures along with run -on and run-
off controls.
At the time of final closure, all mining equipment and temporary structures will be removed from
the site. Any and all refuse generated in conjunction with this operation will be hauled away and
properly disposed of. The tunnel portal will be stabilized and secured, allowing it to remain open
as needed to provide appropriate ventilation with the adjoining tourist mine. The tunnel portal
closure will include installation of standard State of Colorado reclamation portal hardware
consisting of a frame set in rock with a locking steel gate. This installation will preclude entry by
unauthorized personnel, but allow air flow to occur into the mine.
The air raise may or may not be closed. If closed, an engineered concrete plug will be set no less
than 15 feet below the collar. The top of the plug will be backfilled with material composed of
rock, sized at 3 -inch minus. A suitable soil, or growth media, no less than 6 inches in thickness,
will then be placed over the fill prior to seeding.
All disturbed areas, excluding existing historical roads, will be graded and top soil or growth
media added where available and appropriate. Mining Safety and Health Administration
(MSHA) mandated berms will be removed from roads and access -ways to return them to
approximately their original condition. Areas out of the historical travelways will receive seed
