Harms Pit <br />Adequacy Letter <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />14. Please state the thickness of plant growth medium (topsoil) to be replaced during <br />reclamation. The Applicant states the existing topsoil is from 6 to 12 inches in depth. The <br />Division recommends the Applicant commit to replacing 6 to 8 inches of topsoil during <br />reclamation. <br />15. The Applicant states any noxious weeds encountered in the mining or reclamation process <br />will be sprayed to prevent any noxious weed infestation. Please submit a Noxious Weed <br />Management Plan with the following information: <br />a. A list of potential noxious weed species (target species). <br />b. The control methods and treatment window for each target species. <br />c. A monitoring plan and follow -up plan for the site (i.e. when the "local weed control <br />expert" will inspect the property during the year and how follow -up treatments will <br />be implemented following the inspection.) <br />The Division recommends the Applicant contact the appropriate local weed control authority to <br />assist with the weed control plan. A copy of the Division's Weed Control Plan guidance policy is <br />attached for reference. <br />16. Please provide a copy of the NRCS recommended seed mixture in pure live seed per acre (PLS /acre) <br />for each grass species. <br />17. The Division will estimate the cost to reclaim the site once the Applicant addresses the <br />concerns noted in this letter. <br />Exhibit E - Map (Rule 6.3.5) <br />18, Rule 6.2.1 requires maps to conform to the following criteria: <br />a. Show the name of the Applicant <br />b. Must be prepared and signed by a registered land surveyor, professional <br />engineer, or other qualified person <br />c. Give date prepared <br />d. Identify and outline the area which corresponds with the application <br />e. Shall be prepared at a scale that is appropriate to clearly show all elements that <br />are required to be delineated by the Act and Rules. The acceptable range of map <br />scales shall not be larger than 1 inch = 50 feet nor smaller than 1 inch = 660 feet. <br />Also, that a map scale, appropriate legend, map title, date and a north arrow <br />shall be included. <br />The Mining Plan and Reclamation Plan maps submitted by the Applicant do not conform to all <br />or some of the required map criteria. Please review the requirements of Rule 6.2.1 and revise <br />the maps accordingly. <br />
