If monitoring indicates <br />the presence of excessive rills and gullies, closer observation will be used to determine the cause of the <br />gullying. These areas will be identified on a map. <br />Natural geomorphic processes in the reclaimed area will be emphasized, taking into account the slope, <br />aspect, and soil conditions of the site. Further consideration will be given to the normal climatic <br />patterns, plant successional processes, and rate of vegetation establishment and development in the <br />subject area. Evaluation will include whether the rills and gullies will prohibit successful revegetation <br />or will disrupt the achievement of the postmining land use. <br />Based on this evaluation, several options will be available to correct the situation. These options will <br />be a direct result of studying the situation and selecting the option that will best rectify the erosional <br />• problem.
