included on the early survey plats of the area (GLO from 1891 and 1916), indicating it may be <br />a more modern, used for cattle ranching. hunting or wood cutting. <br />Evaluation and Managemcat Kecommet�daii�ns <br />This site is not associated %� ith historically significant events. persons, distinctive <br />design/construction. and lacks potential to }Meld additional information important to the history <br />of the area (Criteria A, B. C and D). Accordingly, it is field evaluated as not eligible for listing <br />on the NRHP. No further work is recommended. <br />Site 5DT1826.1. a historic trail. is located along the southwest facing side of the West <br />Fork of Terror Creek. Elevation is between 7160 to 7360 feet. Vegetation is oakbrush. spruce. <br />skunk cabbage. and mountain grasses and shrubs. Soils are a brown. rocky aeolian loess of <br />undetermined depth. Ground visibility is 5 -15% in most places. <br />The segment of trail recorded in the project area measures 1050m. It averages 3 -5m in <br />w idth. however, at the higher elevation, the oakbrush became: more dense and constricted the <br />trail down to a single track. A single feature was noted. which consists of a rock alignment <br />which was either cleared from the trail or used to shore up the edge. The trail does not quite <br />match with one indicated on the Bowie Quadrangle Map (1965. 1975), however, is in the same <br />relative position as a trail shown on the 1916 GLO map (Figure 4). It generally follows the <br />West Fork of Terror Creek and was like]y used to access other historic properties along that <br />route. <br />h inure 4. GLO map (Township 13S..
