I'll Ar 0 J u C-
April 14, 3013
Department of Reclamation Mining and Safety
Bob Oswald,
San Luis Valley Public Lands Center
Nic Sandoval
Conejos Peak Ranger District
Andrea Jones
F V QTNC'R P-D Eon v" nag Se S
Re: Boulder Gold Project, NOI, File P -2013 -004
Serial ID: POO- 2013 - 045339 -0209- BOULDER -GOLD
San Juan Minerals LLC (SJM) is further amending the plan of operations after the
site evaluation with the Rio Grande National Forest was completed on April 12, 2013.
Access to the site will require crossing the Alamosa River. The crossing path
chosen by SJM has armored banks that will not require any modification. The stream bed
material is tightly packed and riffled and will not require any modification. The path to
the site, or access trail as referred to in the NOI traverses over stabile ground and will not
be modified, with the exception of debris removal. The debris removal will consist of
placing dead wood off to the side of the access trail to be later put back in its place of
origin. The river crossing and access trail will not affect the bond amount that SJM has
calculated.
The entrance gate as mentioned in the first amendment letter will also be changed.
As stated previously, the gate would consist of two metal t -posts and a length of chain
that would be locked. SJM will now be using two round six foot wooden posts with a 14
foot gate to satisfy the request of the Rio Grande National Forest. The gate will be
lockable, and a sign will be posted on the gate that restricts unauthorized use of the gate,
the river crossing, and path to the mine site. SJM believes the gate will not affect the
bond amount in place. The center of the gate will be in the proximity of
37.40543/106.51731. Per request from the Rio Grande National Forest Service, several
large boulders that are exposed during excavation will be saved and placed in the location
of the gate on the edge of the river bank to prohibit further use of the river crossing after
the gate has been reclaimed.
Next to the gate, in the proximity of 37.40546/106.51723, a 40 foot by 40 foot
staging area has been staked out. This area will be used to offload the excavation
equipment and provide a place to park the equipment trailers, and the Dodge 3500 truck.
Parking the equipment trailers in this location will also provide blockage to access next
the gate. It is not expected that any severe impact to the land will be created in the
staging area, therefore not affecting the bond amount in place.
