3.2 Traverse I -I'
Fall 2012 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Box Canyon, Apache Rocks, and South of Divide Mining Areas
these traverses (i.e., topographic description, overburden depth, exposed surficial materials, etc.)
are not included in this report, but can be found in earlier versions of this semi - annual report (see
Spring 2011 Report).
Photographs obtained from Photographic Observation Points 3 (located along Traverse H -H')
was compared to images obtained from this location during previous visits. These photographic
comparisons found no observable changes.
Traverse I -I' begins at point D (of Traverse D -D') above the southern edge of mined B -seam
Longwall Panel 14 and continues southward across the central portion of mined B -seam
Longwall Panels 14 to 17 and across the east end of mined E -seam Longwall Panels El and E2
and unmined E -seam Longwall Panel E3 to a connection with the Dry Fork of Minnesota Creek
(Dry Fork) road near the eastern edge of Section 34, T13S, R9OW of the 6 P.M. (see Maps 1
and 2). The southern end of this traverse is above mined E -seam Longwall Panels El, E2 and
E3. MDW pads located (and visited) along this traverse include E2- 51/52/54, E3 -51 and E3 -55
(Map 2). Overburden depths along this traverse vary from 1,390 to 1,600 feet over the B -seam
and 1,100 to 1,300 feet over the E -seam. No subsidence related features were noted at these
locations. As noted in the Fall 2011 Report, previously existing MDW pads for E1 -48 and E1-
52/53/55 along this traverse have now been reclaimed. In addition, all wellhead equipment on
the MDW pad for E2- 51/52/54 has been removed and reclaimed, and the pad is now being used
as a temporary storage area.
3.3 Traverse J -J'
Traverse J -J' begins at Traverse I -I' and continues in a west/northwestward direction along a
ridgeline above portions of mined E -seam Longwall Panel El and E2 to numerous MDW drill
pads (see Maps 2 and 4). Overburden depths along this traverse vary from 1,100 to 1,450 feet
over the B -seam and 850 to 1,200 feet over the E -seam.
831 - 032.794
April 2013
Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
