area perimeter is marked with roof bolts or small posts in accordance with 4.02.3. The topsoil
stockpile is marked in accordance with 4.02.7.
General Compliance: Because the mine is not currently producing, only residual coal remains in
the approved stockpile location. Rilling is occurring in this material. Drainage is routed to the
sedimentation pond and no off -site impacts were observed. However, drainage from this area is
not clearly routed away from the adjacent haul road (see photo 10763). In accordance with
4.03.1(4), this area should be stabilized and drainage should be reestablished to maintain haul
road integrity.
The facilities area was orderly. MCM staff had shut the ventilation fan down to work on the
electrical system, but had the fan running again before the end of the inspection.
No disturbances to areas outside the permitted area were noted.
Maintenance items identified during inspection:
• In accordance with 4.03.1(6), regrade the haul road below the coal stockpile area. Please
also regrade the adjacent coal stockpile area and establish drainage in accordance with
4.03.1(4) to stabilize the disturbed area and prevent area runoff from damaging the road.
• In accordance with 4.05.5, please replace the silt fence below the sedimentation pond
primary outlet pipe (adjacent to the haul road).
No compliance issues were noted and no enforcement actions were taken as a result of this
inspection.
