g)
ii) The North Tract is the existing permitted area of 7.0 acres (Holyoke Gun Club
Pit - M -1977 -075). It was originally mined by the Colorado Department of
Transportation, and then taken over by the Holyoke Gun Club. Very limited,
intermittent mining has occurred over the last thirty -five years. The current
permitted permit is approaching the point where usable material will be
exhausted. Our plan is to finish mining the North Tract, then open the South
Tract and begin mining, and then begin reclamation of the North Tract.
iii) The North Tract is currently being mined under the existing permit. The
South Tract will be mined as the pit permit is expanded.
f) The pit is accessed using Saylor Street, turning south off U. S. Highway 6, then using
a Subdivision Road in Holyoke Gun Club Filing #_, which leads to the pit The
driveway will be left in place for the use of the landowner. There is an existing
driveway immediately north of the current pit. That driveway is not part of the pit
operation, but is simply used by the landowner to access the entire property. The east
access driveway will remain after reclamation for landowner use. There will be
temporary haul roads inside the pit area, but they will be removed as reclamation
occurs.
There will be no shop, plant, or other facilities permanently located at the mine site.
Equipment will be maintained at the site only when mining is occurring. This will be
on a periodic basis since material will only be mined on an as needed basis. The
equipment used to mine the gravel will be primarily a front -end loader, large track
hoe, and trucks. Equipment will typically be filled with fuel from portable fuel tanks.
Any portable tanks at the site will be placed out of the drainage area and out of the
active working area to prevent fuel spills or related hazards. This and good
housekeeping will minimize the potential of any contamination. The final mine floor
will always remain a minimum of 2 feet above static water level and should pose no
threat to ground water. Equipment will be serviced out of the mining area.
h) No water will be used in conjunction with the operation. There could be instances
when heavy rainfall makes the site too muddy to continue. At those times, mining
will simply cease until the site becomes dry enough to mine again. Mining will not
go into the groundwater at the site.
i) The material to be mined will be used primarily for construction projects or road
building. A secondary use may be for landscaping material.
i) Our plans are to mine to a depth of 25'. No slopes will be left greater than 3:1.
ii) Based on mining which has occurred in the existing pit area, the material at the
bottom of the pit, primarily a clay material, would be expected to remain consistent
throughout the life of the pit.
