However, prior to obtaining a permit, an approved
substitute water supply plan or decreed plan for augmentation is required.
The applicant submitted a Gravel Pit Well Permit Application and request for a Substitute Water
Supply Plan to this office on March 20, 2013. The application and request are currently under
review by this office.
The applicant has indicated plans to use other water for the following purposes at the permit site:
® evaporation, ® dust control, ❑reclamation, ❑ water removed in the mined product, ❑
processing, ® other: gravel washing.
The source of water for this use is to be obtained from Sacramento Creek. Applicant will need to
document that this water was diverted in priority under a water right decreed for such industrial
use.
COMMENTS: The application seeks an amendment to increase the total permitted area for the Gloria Z
Mine to 45.04 acres. The primary commodities to be mined at the site are gold, gravel, and sand.
The mining plan proposes to excavate material to a depth of 50 to 120 feet. The water level at the site is
estimated to be between 50 and 75 feet below ground surface; therefore it is anticipated that some of the
mining pits will expose ground water. Some of the exposed ground water will be pumped from the pit and
either used in the sluicing operation or pumped into the plant settling pond. From the settling pond, a
trench will lead to an infiltration pond where the water will either evaporate or infiltrate into the ground.
The application states that water exposed in the excavation pit will be limited to 0.21 acres, water
exposed in the processing plant (settling) ponds will be limited to 0.42 acres, and water exposed in the
