Topsoil Replacement Thickness. The overall topsoil replacement thickness for the II -W
disturbed area was originally projected to be 1.3 feet for the mine area. The topsoil balance for the
remaining disturbed area was calculated as follows:
Mine Area
Total Disturbance Area = 1,290.2 acres
Permanent Facilities & Topsoil Replaced= 1,264.7 acres
Disturbed area requiring topsoil = 25.5 acres
Topsoil in stockpiles (Table 12.1) = 75.5 ac -ft
Mean Replacement Depth = 0.9 feet
(10.8 inches)
REVEGETATION
• Seeding and Shrub Planting
Seeding. There were 4.1 acres (upland) seeded for the first time in 2012. There were 11.0 acres
reseeded (ephemeral) in the South area.
