NORTHWEST COLORADO CONSULTANTS, INC.
FIELD REPORT
Project: Pond 16 Area Project No.: 08 -8099 Date: 5/16/12
Remediation Time: 4.0
Location: Routt County, CO Report No.: 15 Mileage: 74
Client: Peabody Energy Engr. /Tech: JS
Work Performed:
As requested, we visited the project site on today`s date and conducted compaction test No.'s 71 through 77
on the material being placed for roadway embankment fill.
The Client, placed and compacted on -site material for J and K roads embankment fill between Stations 3 +50 and
9 +75. it should be noted that Mirafi soil stabilization fabric was placed approximately 6 inches to 1 1/2 feet below
the subgrade elevation between Stations 3 +50 and 6 +00. Compaction test numbers 71 through 73 were taken
below the Mirafi fabric. Test number 73 did not meet the project specifications for compaction, however, it does
appear that the Mirafi fabric is stabilizing the underlying material. We observed several passes with a loaded Volvo
A250 off road haul truck prior to testing the area and the subgrade soils overlying the Mirafi appeared stable.
Remarks:
We obtained a sample of the on -site material from test number 71 and returned it to our laboratory in Steamboat
Springs, CO for standard one point (checkpoint) Proctor Testing. This material matched previously determined
Proctor Number 2P for this project.
With exception of test no. 73 at Station 4 +75 below Mirafi soil stabilization fabric, all material tested generally met
the project specifications for compaction.
Please refer to the attached sheet for results of today's testing.
Verbal Discussions:
Jim Rolando of Seneca Mine was notified of today's test results.
