Nolan, MD, MPH
Executive Director
MAY 6 1994
The Air Pollution Control Division has reviewed your emission permit application for the following source in the
New Horizon Mine premises, located at 27646 West 5th Avenue, Nucla, Montrose County, Colorado:
One (1) Wedco LX -350 or Cleanburn CB3500, SIN: not available, rated at 350,000 BTU per hour, space
heater, combusting used crankcase oil.
It has been determined that the above emission point has uncontrolled actual emissions of less than two tons per year
and does not emit significant quantities of hazardous or odorous pollutants. The above emission point is therefore
exempt from the filing of Air Pollutant Emission Notice(s), APEN(s), and is also exempt from permit requirements,
per Regulation No. 3.
This exemption from permit requirements is issued in reliance upon the accuracy and completeness of information
supplied by the applicant and is conditioned upon construction, installation and operation in accordance with this
information and with representations made by the applicant or applicant's agents. Specifically, this exemption has
been granted provided that the following information is accurate and complete:
Annual consumption of used crankcase oil (also referred as waste oil) does not exceed 2.5 gallons per hour,
and 16,425 gallons per year (based on 9 months per year operation).
According to the Division's preliminary analysis, this emission point will result in the emission of the following air
pollutants (on an uncontrolled actual basis):
Particulate Matter: 0.60 ton per year.
Sulfur Dioxide: 0.85 ton per year.
Nitrogen Oxides: 0.20 ton per year.
