It will be dug 3.5 feet deep with 2H:1V sideslopes. The pond and ditches will be dug
prior to any new activity in the western portion of the permit area, therefore, no discharge from the
site will take place. For this reason, no NPDES permit is required.
All water from the excavated pit that is pumped will be used in the sluice plant or pumped to the
Plant Settling Pond or the Plant Infiltration Pond. No water can leave the site from these ponds due
to the extreme porous nature of the gravel, which will result in full infiltration.
Section 8.0 Access Road
One existing access is present on the site, which is a compacted dirt road that runs south to a T inter-
section with the local dirt road named Platte Drive, which goes east and west. The western direction
will lead to Highway 9, which will be the truck route for almost all activity in and out of the site.
The access road in the permit area will be compacted dirt or gravel and approximately 30' in width.
Water or magnesium chloride will be applied to this road (primarily by the gravel mine personnel) to
keep dust down while mine vehicle traffic occurs.
Gloria Z Mine 2013 Amendment 19
