All aspects of the proposed reclamation plan are aimed at achieving the highest
possible success in vegetation establishment in consideration of all controlling factors.
3.1 POST-MINING TOPOGRAPHY
Topographic maps depicting approximate existing and final reclamation contours
are presented on Figures 2.2-7a, 2.2-7C, 3.1-2 through 3.1-g. Post-mining slopes and
landform configuration are similar to the pre-mining conditions identified in Figure 1.1-2,
and existing conditions shown in Figure 2.2-1. Because the disturbed area associated
with the operation is of limited area and is located primarily in a draw with steep slopes
and rock outcrops existent, post-mining topographic configuration will not be unlike the
pre-mining conditions.
All disturbed area will be retumed to its former uses, wildlife habitat and
rangeland and will be retumed in a manner that is suitable to such use and correlated
with surrounding land uses which are generally based on topographic limitations.
The upper segment of the road located along the canyon slopes (wildlife habitat)
will be reclaimed utilizing a backhoe and bulldozer. Material will be pulled from the
downslope and cast into the road area to approximate original drainages, proposed
post-mining land use and surrounding land use.
Backfilling is discussed in Section 3.3.
All grading will be done on the contour where possible. The backfill areas
(sealing of drift entries, road work and sediment ponds) will be roughened on those
slopes where equipment can be safely operated in order to provide protection against
slippage.
TR-22 3-3 05/23!07
