Cunningham 0
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203 2012
Cash and Who Do Mines, Permit No. M1983 -141:
Recl:
& 4
Re: Technical Revision - Water Monitoring Locations and Sample Parameters
Dear Mr. Cunningham,
Numerous water monitoring parameters have been analyzed in the past several decades
that have been below minimum detectable limit (MDL), or are of questionable value in
evaluating the water quality associated with the Cash Mine. Because of this history, Gold
Hill Mines, Inc. is requesting a revision of the water monitoring requirements for this
permit.
For the purpose of water quality analysis and in order to detect any increases in these
elements in the water, I am requesting that the following elements be sampled: the
dissolved metals of Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Iron, Lead, Manganese,
Selenium, and Zinc, plus pH, TDS, temperature, and conductivity at all surface and
groundwater sampling locations.
We are requesting the elimination of the following water samples:
(CW) Cash Well -- This well draws water from the Seventh Level in the Cash Mine
and it is not representative of the mine water found on the Third Level, where the
Cross -cut accesses the mine workings. The pump in this well is currently without
power and it is not operable, so no water samples can be obtained from this
source. This water well has been used to dewater the Cash Mine by previous
operators, and its use has been discontinued by the current permitted operator.
Before it is placed back in operation, the operator will notify the DRMS.
(CG) Cash Gulch -- This is an intermittent stream, and the sampling location is dry
most of the year. Since no water from the Cash Mine is flowing into Cash Gulch
from the Third Level Cross -cut, and it is not affected by any mining operations,
there is no reason to continue sampling this location R ECEI re
rER 15 2012
