and water from Left Hand Creek is actually being stored in this mine, there is
nothing to be gained from continuing to sample this location. Gold Hill Mines, Inc.
will notify the DRMS before any water from Left Hand Creek is stored in the
Wynona Mine.
(MW3) Mill Well No.3 — This well is located a considerable distance west of the
mill tailings pond. It is not actually located down - gradient from the tailings pond,
and nothing anomalous has ever been detected from any of the quarterly water
samples taken for several decades from this well.
(MW4) Mill Well No. 4 — This well is located further west of Mill Well No.3, and it
serves no useful purpose to continue sampling this particular well. Nothing
anomalous has ever been detected from any of the quarterly water samples taken
for several decades from this well.
(HA) Hazel -A. Adit — The Hazel A. Mine was in the original mill water plan for the
purpose of receiving pond water overflow during a heavy precipitation event. It
was removed from the system in 1998 when the new tailing impoundment was
built by ITEC Environmental Colorado. It has not contained anything since then
except ground water that naturally flows into the Hazel A. Mine. Continuing to
sample this site serves no useful purpose.
This would leave the Gold Hill Mill's tailings pond (POND), and the two original
down - gradient monitoring wells (MW1) and (MW2) for purposes of water monitoring at
this permitted site. I believe that these three water sample locations are more than
adequate for monitoring the inactive Gold Hill Mill. Therefore, Gold Hill Mines, Inc. is
requesting that this Technical Revision for the Gold Hill Mill, Permit No. 1994 -117 be
approved.
Very Truly Yours,
Mark A.
