Name and Address of Permittee and Permit Number
David G. Anderson
Western Fuels- Colorado, LLC
12050 N. Pecos Street
Westminster, CO 80234
Permit No. C- 2010 -089
Acres Disturbed
The New Horizon North (NHN) Mine currently includes two Coal Mine Permits held by
Western Fuels Colorado (WFC); New Horizon 1 Permit #C- 1981 -008 and NHN Permit
#C- 2010 -089. WFC is currently working with the Division of Reclamation, Mining, and
Safety (DRMS) to remove Permit C- 1981 -008 from this area. At this time, all NH1
activities are covered under this Annual Reclamation Report; Permit C- 2010 -089,
Western Fuels Colorado, LLC, New Horizon North Mine.
The New Horizon North (NHN) Mine is bounded by 2600 Rd on the West, 2650 Rd on
the East, Z Rd on the North, and AA Rd on the South. This land is located in Sections 25
and 36, Township 47 North, Range 16 West of the New Mexico Principal Meridian,
Montrose County, Colorado. Refer to Attachment 2.03.8 -1 of Mining Permit C- 2012 -089
for a more detailed description. Currently the NHN Mine office is located at 27646 W. 5th
Ave. Nucla, CO 81424, which is also the NH2 Mine office. New office facilities are
permitted to be built on the NHN Permit area in an early phase of work. Map 2012 -1
shows the location of the permitted area in relation to the NH2 mine.
Activities on the NHN Permit area in 2012 were confined to construction of the NHN
Pond 001 and its associated control ditches; as well as stripping and storage of
approximately 112,000 cubic yards of mixed topsoil and 45,000 cubic yards of Progresso
topsoil. The Progresso topsoil was placed in a separate stockpile so that it can be placed
back in its original general area and not blended with the mixed topsoil. The Progresso
soil generally has better characteristics which include a thicker soil depth. Details of soil
types on the NHN Permit area including where they are found, is in section 2.04.9 of the
Permit.
At years end, most of this work has been completed with a total of 76.4 acres of land
disturbed. Map 2012 -2 describes the disturbances within the Permit.
Backfilling and Grading
Work consisted exclusively of pre production activities. Due to this fact, there was no
land backfilled or graded during 2012 on the NHN Permit.
F: \Trevor\Annual Reclamation Reports \NHN 2012 Annual Reclamation report daves
revl.doc - 1 —
