4. Please specify the dimensions of any significant existing disturbance to the land
surface. The application mentions a previously mined pit. Please provide
information such as length, width and depth, of the previously mined area.
The peak of this site was disturbed in past years. An area approximately 150 feet by
450 feet by 15 feet in depth at the peak had material taken out.
5. Specify the dimensions of the existing road. Please provide information such as
the length and width of the existing road. Also, will there be any improvements
made to the road, will the road need to be widened to accommodate more traffic.
There is an entrance roadway to the site which appears to be 30 feet wide. Once the
pit site is reached there is a smaller road about 20 feet in width and a secondary one
about 10 feet in width. Those roads encircle the peak and loop back to the entrance
roadway. The entrance roadway was included in the acreage calculation. It may be
improved as needed during actual use of the pit. Internal roadways will be
improved as needed during mining, but will all ultimately disappear when mining is
complete and reclamation occurs.
6. Please clarify the meaning of this statement "Mining is anticipated to a depth of
around 20 feet below the outside perimeter of the pit boundaries."
This pit includes a hill which lies primarily on the eastern half. The hill area will be
mined, leaving a somewhat level area. That level area will then be mined to a depth
of approximately 20 feet. Overall mining in the pit may be up to 60 feet in the
southeast corner, 20 feet in the northwest corner.
6.3.4 EXHIBIT D — Reclamation Plan
7. Please specify the thickness of the overburden that will be replaced. If there is no
overburden, please state that in the reclamation plan for the exhibit.
We do not anticipate overburden. The reclamation plan exhibit has been modified
with that statement.
6.3.5 Exhibit E - Map
8. The map titled "Exhibit E — Mining Plan" shows the elevation of the hill as being
4470 feet. The map titled "Exhibit E — Final Contour Plan" depicts the final
elevation of the pit floor at 4430 feet. This would result in a mining depth of 40
feet. However the mining plan stated a mining depth of only 20 feet, please
explain or correct this discrepancy.
