INTRODUCTION AND SAMPLING OBJECTIVES
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) developed conditions to the mine
permit for the GCC Rio Grande, Inc. Red Rock Plant and Limestone Mine. Condition #1 calls
for groundwater sampling of the St. Charles River alluvium, Dakota sandstone aquifer, and, if
encountered, Code11 sandstone aquifer for a minimum of five quarters prior to the start of
mining. This Groundwater Sampling Plan (Sampling Plan), developed to meet the requirements of
Condition #1, describes groundwater sampling and analysis procedures for obtaining chemical data
to define the baseline groundwater conditions of potentially affected aquifers.
