Future subsidence limits are calculated by projecting a maximum
450 angle from underground mining limits to the ground surface
and are illustrated on the phase maps.
Presently, the majority of underground ore comes from
the Storke Level . The 600 Level , located 300 feet below
Storke, supplies the balance of underground ore . As the Storke
Level ore is gradually exhausted , the 600 Level will supply a
greater proportion until about 1986 when it will be the sole
underground ore producer . The 900 and 1200 Levels are proposed
to come into production during the mid 1990 ' s. Construction to
gain access from the Storke yard area to the 900 and 1200
levels began in 1980 . The Ceresco Level was mined during the
1960 ' s and it may be reopened during the mine life .
Most underground equipment is powered by electricity
or compressed air; however , present plans call for an increased
use of diesel-powered rubber-tired equipment. Equipment in-
cludes locomotives, sidedump ore cars, jackleg drills, overcast
loaders, slusher hoists , load-haul-dump units, and mobile,
rubber-tired hydraulic jumbo drills.
Fresh air is heated and pushed by fans into the mine
at No. 7 Shaft and passed through the haulage drifts , up and
through the slusher drifts and exits the mine through a series
P°of ventilation drifts and raises with exhaust fans . The
crusher area vent raise extends from the 600 Level underground
crusher to the surface .
2.6 CRUSHING AND MILLING
Crushing and milling facilities are located at the
main Climax site ( 5) , the Storke Level ( 5) and underground.
Primary crushers are situated on the surface at the main Climax
site and primary gyratory crushers are located on the surface
at Storke Level and underground on the 600 Level . New crushing
facilities such as the No. 6 Crusher which will service Open
Pit ore, will come into production in the future . Secondary
crushing is by standard cone crushers . Tertiary crushing is by
shorthead cone crushers. All fine ore is conveyed to the mill
2-8
