Major components and facilities of the Climax mining
operation are the orebody, open pit, open pit waste rock dumps ,
underground mining , crushing and milling , tailing deposition,
domestic and industrial water circuit and aggregate mining , and
are briefly described in the sections following the Mining and
Reclamation Timetables .
2 . 1 MINING AND RECLAMATION TIMETABLES
The Climax Mining and Reclamation Plan has been de-
veloped in relation to the time sequence of land disturbance
associated with the two basic mining methods utilized at Climax
and to the time sequence of land reclamation. To effecter yet y
portray the planned sequence of land disturbance and land
reclamation, mining and reclamation activities have been broken
into five time intervals and treated as Phases I through V.
Since Phase I has lapsed , additions and changes by this amend-
ment do not regard Phase I of the Mining and Reclamation Plan.
By December 31 , 1982 (end of Phase,_IIY 7671 .acres will be
_affected. Table 2. 1 provides the time interval for each phase
and a summary of the affected and reclaimed land acreages
existing during each phase. Within each phase the Table shows
the net number of additional acres affected during the phase ,
the number of acres reclaimed during the phase and the total
number of affected acres existing at phase end .
Mining and Reclamation Phase aps (Appendix I ) have
been drawn to graphically illustrate t e time sequence of the
changing acreages for the affected an reclaimed lands. Each
affected parcel or acreage of land-.-shown on the maps is coded
and referenced in the text by a number as described in Section
6 , DISTURBANCES. Phase II indicates the status of Climax lands
as they will be at the end of the year 1982 . Phases III and IV
indicate the changing land status in relation to mining and
reclamation activities until mining is expected to cease around
the year 2020 . (Long range dates such as this are present best
estimates and will probably be altered between now and then by
the economy. ) Phase V map illustrates the final physical
appearance of the Climax property.
2-2
