Response: Project water requirements for mining and reclamation will be water needed <br />for dust control. The estimated annual amount needed is 0.50 acre -feet per year. Water <br />used for dust control shall be purchased from a legal source such as the Pueblo Water <br />Works or other authorized vendors. <br />(5) The Operator /Applicant shall affirmatively state that the Operator /Applicant has acquired (or <br />has applied for) a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit from the <br />Water Quality Control Division at the Colorado Department of Health, if necessary. <br />Response: The Operator /Applicant affirms that they will apply for stormwater discharge <br />associated with sand & gravel mining and processing permit, from the Water Quality <br />Control Division, Department of Public Health and the Environment. <br />25. Based on information presented in Exhibit C through E, the division has <br />inferred that slurry walls will be constructed in accordance with OSE standards, leak <br />tested and the engineer's certification provided to the Division prior to exposing <br />groundwater. However, these steps have not been stated explicitly. Please commit to <br />these steps prior to exposing groundwater or clarify the Applicant's intent. <br />Response: The information presented in Exhibit C through E, pertaining to slurry walls <br />and the construction of them is not under consideration in this application which is to be a dry <br />mined gravel pit without exposing groundwater. These cost should be broken down by the <br />shown in the mining plan, then ending with the final reclamation plan as the <br />ant proposes the site to look like upon the completion of mining and reclamation. <br />ivision would review and comment of the total bond.
