Dear Mr. Cattany,
We are respectfully entering our protest to Amendment 9 of the Cresson Project, Permit
Number M- 1980 -244. We feel the amendment to the existing permit lacks sufficient
protection of both surface and ground waters from the proposed mine expansion.
Our reading of the many amendment documents has not been completed, thus our response
protests the amendment at a very high level. Our review has been difficult as we didn't
have access to the amendment's DVD until late in the public review cycle. We may provide
you with more detail on 17 June, the last date for public input, as we have the time to
further investigate the proposed amendment. We will, however, continue to review the
amendment documents and would request to be allowed to submit more detailed comments in
the coming weeks (or months, perhaps) as we get a better understanding of the proposal.
Yours,
Kirby Hughes,
Sierra Club /RMC Mining, Oil & Gas Issues Chair
2725 Black Canyon Rd.
