January 10, 2013
Memo to: Mr. Mike Cunningham / Division of Reclamation Mining
and Safety:
Reference: Cross Gold Mine Permit: M- 1977 -410
Subject: Map for attachment to Annual Report sent on November 03,
2012: By: Thomas S. Hendricks / Mine Manage / Vice President
Descriptions:
A: Location A on the attached map is where work started on the
portal area for the proposed ramp decline. The small excavation took
place in an area where historic disturbance occurred in the 1920's and
1930's. A cut in the hillside 40 feet south of the existing Cross Mine
snow shed was excavated by a John Deere Hydraulic excavator for a
width of 30 feet and a height of 45 feet. (1350 sq. feet). The
excavation was continued to hit the bedrock interface. The top soil
and alluvial cover and rocks were stocked piled immediately east of
the new heading. Large rocks were used for a rock wall and the
material was ramped up with the Komatsu 3 yard loader. Work had to
stop on this excavation as funding ran out 500 tons of the soil and
alluvial cover was hauled by Keeter Trucking from the Cross Gold
Mine to the adjacent Caribou mine yard which is also a historic mine
dump area. Both at the Cross Mine and the Caribou Mine, the
material was placed on historically disturbed and existing dump rock
as to not create any new disturbance. The material hauled to the
Caribou dump area shown as "D" on the map, will be used in the
future for the planned new roadway between the Cross and Caribou
mines.
